Sexual Abuse in the IFB Church, Exposed on 20/20
This past Friday night, ABC 20/20 aired a story about the disturbing culture of abuse at some Independent Fundamental Baptist Churches.
Supreme authoritarianism, absolute male power, covering up for the crimes of others, shunning, and banishment, were among the Church practices exposed during this episode.
The stories of sexual and spiritual abuse are heartbreaking.
Yet the courage of those who've come forward to tell their stories is commendable. As one abuse survivor in the episode said, they are "lifting the veil" on church sanctioned abuse.
